132287 1 GDC 2010: Bit.Trip Runner Video Preview + Hands On

Bit.Trip Runner is a platformer, but it’s not as predictable as you might imagine. You control Commander Video, an all-black blob with protruding sticks representing his arms and legs, and you have only limited say in exactly how he moves. Commander Video is an impatient hero, so he will not wait for you to push right on the D pad for him to begin moving. Instead, he jogs at a steady rate all the time, and you have to time your jumps, slides, and karate chops in time with the obstacles to keep your plucky protagonist alive. It’s not particularly ..read the full article

It seems that The Grinder has taken some turns.  Not only is it going multi-platform, but they have also changed the perspective for the other platforms.  It now seems to have a similar look to Marvel Ultimate Alliance instead of the first-person view of previous builds.  Will this be the same for Wii?  As of right now, we do not know. Below is some footage GameTrailers caught while at GDC ‘10.

131765 1 (WiiWare) Dracula: Undead Awakening Gameplay Video

The Classic Controller gives the game the dual-stick set-up it’s always wanted to have, and using the left stick to maneuver your vampire hunter while the right one aims and blasts your weapons feels natural and very easy to get into. It also supports Wiimote/Nunchuk combo and the GameCube Controller (with rumble enabled), giving a lot of different control options to a design that was originally developed for a platform that has no buttons at all (The iPhone).

This is a solid arcade shooter, just decide if you’d like it for DSiWare or WiiWare

Dive: The Medes Islands Secret is the second game developed by Cosmonaut Games, and it will be distributed online through Nintendo’s WiiWare™ service.

“When the software developer comes forward with an idea that can’t be executed on the current platform, that’s when we start thinking seriously about the next system. We’re not there yet, from a Wii perspective.”

Fils-Aime was also lukewarm about the importance of high definition graphics and 3D technology, saying:

“For us, technology is not an endpoint. Technology is an enabler for fantastic consumer experiences. So from a hardware standpoint, we ..read the full article
