Sonic 4 Trailer

Last September, SEGA announced “Project Needlemouse”, the nickname for the new 2D Sonic the Hedgehog game. Recently, SEGA confirmed the official name to Gamespot.com. The publisher released a new trailer and revealed “Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1″:

The game is coming to Xbox Live, Playstation Network, and Wiiware this summer. We will finally have a sequel to Sonic & Knuckles after so many years of waiting.

The teaser trailer for this new game highlights the past Sonic the Hedgehog games, while showing viewers what the new adventure has in store.

Koopa Troopa Shirt

Take a look at the shirt below… it’s of a lifelike Koopa Troopa next to a mushroom and chomping on a fire flower.

If you like the shirt it’s only available until midnight central time… so you better hurry.

When I first saw this video, I scoffed and blew it off. The more I watch it however, it really is pretty cool. This nerd staged a level in Super Mario World to spell out “Will You Marry Me?”, to his unsuspecting girlfriend of five years.

At first I thought it was staged, because she really didn’t act all that surprised or joyous. Perhaps, she was pissed at first that her game of Super Mario World was interrupted. I’ve made a few mistakes in life of interrupting girls and their Mario sessions. They don’t end well. However, they start to ..read the full article

Good ol’ Miyamoto. I think the more the man tries to keep information from going the public, the more some slips through. In this interview he mostly talks about Legend of Zelda DS games. However, towards the end he gives a small and subtle hint at something involving Legend of Zelda on the Nintendo Wii.

Don’t expect too much, but even a bit is better than nothing at all.

Duck Talkes Finance

The world of video game sales is a finicky business. When you’re on top, many times it feels as though nothing could go wrong. I’m sure Sony felt that way when they dominated the last generation, and going into our current gen. Of course, things turned out quite a bit different. Nintendo has dominated up until now, and Sony is in third place when it comes to sales. And the Xbox 360 has been at a constant 2nd place after all three consoles were on the market.

The winds could be changing again, according to this report from Bloomberg.com. It’s being ..read the full article

Since the Nintendo Wii launch there have been some funny videos and pictures released. These videos and pictures relate to the problem of people holding onto their Wii remotes. The best occurrences are when the Wii remotes smash into things, and we all have a good laugh at someone else’s expense. The problem is that it’s hard to tell which ones occurred naturally, and which ones were hoaxes. The latest incident to occur is 100% authentic. The reason being is that smashing a Wii Remote accessory into a television doesn’t really help anyone sell anything.

This is a perfect video ..read the full article

Charles Martinet

I’m sure that corporations are just in love with Twitter and other social networking sites. These platforms allow for even more unwanted announcements and people slipping up when it comes to retaining information. Charles Martinet is the latest person to prove this theory correct.

On his Twitter account, Martinet dropped this little pearl of info:

“Awesome new Mario Game! And it’s not NSMB Wii, and it’s not Galaxy 2, but it’s going to be crazy fun!”

So, he might not have announced any details but I think it’s safe to say that Nintendo didn’t want anyone to know that the game, whatever it ..read the full article

The more I see of New Super Mario Bros. Wii, the more excited I become for the release. The Koopa Kids, simultaneous multiplayer, and the from what I’ve seen of the level design in videos have all lead to me being thoroughly stoked for this game. This video adds even more fuel to my impatient fire.

That ice power up looks to be a highly welcome addition to Mario’s repertoire as well.

Today on the Nintendo Download we have of course LostWinds: Winter of the Melodias. Which I’ve been giddily anticipating for quite some time. However, the other WiiWare game sounds like it might be worth the effort to check out as well. I’m always down for governing myself with the law of the jungle. Plus, Hudson did an alright job with their last WiiWare shooter – Onslaught.

LostWinds: Winter of the Melodias logo

For those who’ve been frequent readers of WiiBlog, know of my love for the original LostWinds games. If you don’t know, them just type LostWinds into the search bar on the side of the site.

So, imagine the excitement when I received an email from Frontier stating the game would release October, 19th, or Monday of next week. It feels like I’ve been waiting forever for the sequel. Along with the release date, Frontier was kind enough to send over some artwork, screenshots and a packshot. Even though the game is releasing on WiiWare, it’s kind of cool to go through ..read the full article

While yours truly wasn’t able to attend Miyamoto’s round table event in NYC yesterday, I can (for you) read through all of IGN’s transcript and pick out the parts that you really should checkout.

If you’d like to read the entire transcript of the 90 minute event, then click here. Otherwise, enjoy my summary of the important bits of information:

Miyamoto on Wii Fit Plus

So even with the original Wii Fit, we tried to streamline the process, even to go so far as to create a Wii Fit Channel. But even so it still took time to get in and start it ..read the full article

New Super Mario Bros Wii scan screen 1

Generally, I’m not a fan of posting scans of magazines that you should rightfully buy if you want to see the content. However, Famitsu isn’t available stateside so I don’t mind posting these scans of New Super Mario Bros. Wii.

They show off some screenshots of levels previously unseen. Also, we get to see all of the Koopa Kids congregated together. I’m hoping for a little sub plot where the Koopa Kids are secretly trying to disintegrate Bowser Jr. Hey, one can hope.

Enjoy the scans (Click To Enlarge)

Have you ever wondered what the geniuses of our world do with their spare time? Does Bill Gates play shuffleboard? Perhaps Steve Jobs enjoys hustling pool when he’s not thinking of the next name for a Mac OS. Fortunately, we now know one thing that Shigeru Miyamoto enjoys doing in his spare time: measuring things.

In a one-on-one discussion with Satoru Iwata, Miyamoto states how he enjoys measuring things:

Miyamoto: I’ve always enjoyed guessing the lengths of objects, which is why I carry a measuring tape around with me.

Iwata: Really? That one’s new to me too!

Miyamoto takes his hobby seriously, and continually ..read the full article

Joe The Condor

There have been some amazing holiday seasons in video game history, but I think for the Nintendo Wii 2009 could be it’s best yet. We’ve got New Super Mario Bros. Wii to look forward to, and the upcoming fighter Tatsunoko vs. Capcom soon after. If you’re giddy with anticipation then you should be glad to know that the final characters of the game have been revealed.

First, is Joe the Condor which if you’re a fan of Gatchaman should help complete the roster from the anime series. I personally must plead ignorance as I’ve never watched one episode of the series. ..read the full article

Bon Jovi Square Enix

Square Enix has been known for some crazy antics throughout the years. Remember, this is the developer that made a Mario RPG become one of the greatest games of all time. Also, they created a series based on fusing the world of Final Fantasy and Disney together. Guess what, the series turned out to be amazing.

Therefore, it shouldn’t be a huge surprise to hear that Square Enix will be tapping into the decade defying band Bon Jovi for their Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles japanese commercials. As crazy as it may sound. Square Enix has signed non-gaming musical talent before but ..read the full article

In case you haven’t heard about it, Cyberbike is an exercise game that will come bundled with a full size exercise bike. Which in turn will be compatible with the Nintendo Wii. Yes, you read all of that correctly.

The game is making a huge splash online, and I’m sure the relative unknown developer Big Ben Interactive is smiling from all the coverage. If you want to see exactly how the game plays out, here’s the first trailer which shows off some gameplay:

I can proudly admit that I have never flown on an airplane in my life. Everywhere I’ve been to in this world I’ve been able to drive myself or walk there. I’d rather not place my life in the hands of a single individual who may or may not have been drinking before takeoff. For all you frequent flyers, you might be interested to know that the Nintendo Wii Balance Board is being studied as an option for airport security.

I might not fly around on airplanes, but I have heard from others that security has been a real pain in ..read the full article
